Mason McCool is an American composer and aspiring choral music educator. His works have received national and international acclaim, and he has had works premiered by ensembles such as The University of Alabama University Singers (“Psalm 23”), No Strings Attached (“Beyond the Sea,” “For Good,” “Rivers and Roads”), and the Old School Hymnsingers ('“Zion’s Song”). He regularly composes for choirs, orchestras, screendances, and a cappella groups.

Mason believes that music exists in all — from a fresh fall of snow, to the humming of the birds, to a simple smile. His music has been described by listeners as “hauntingly beautiful,” “cinematic,” and “ethereal.” Upcoming performances of his work include his arrangement of “Take a Chance on Me” by Tune In A Cappella at the 2026 Southern ICCA Quarterfinals, “Flute Sonata No. 1” at the University of Alabama, and his choral work “daffodils” by the Renova New Music Ensemble.

Mason holds a B.M in Music Composition and a B.A. in French from The University of Alabama, and he is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education (Choral) from the University of Colorado Boulder. His teachers and mentors include Drs. Morgan Luttig, Scott AuCoin, Tyler Bradley Walker, Amir Zaheri, and Professor Samantha Wolf (University of Alabama). In addition to being a student of choral music, Mason is also a well-known wedding and event pianist across the Southeastern United States. Besides composing, he enjoys finding a new coffee shop to go to, competing in CrossFit competitions around the U.S., and going for hikes in the Rockies. He currently resides in Broomfield, Colorado.
